From the AWG's

The Arctic Winter Games are currently being played out in Fort McMurray they started on February 28th and end on March 6th and The Northwest Territories are one of ten teams at the Games, they are doing very well (I think) sitting right now in fourth overall in the medal standing with 8 Gold 13 Silver and 14 Bronze for a total of 35 only behind Alaska in 3rd with 43 medals, Alberta North in Second with 52, with the surprise being Yukon in first with a total of 54 medals. I would like to Congrat the NWT in there doing so far!

On another note i would like to Mention that the NWT Wrestling team that went did not do as good as we thought they would (thinking finishing second to Alaska). after the team duels they finished 1-3 Beating only Magadan (Russia) with a score of 44-4 and losing to Alaska 48-0, Alberta North 40-9, and Nunavut 28-22.

Players of the Month

The Players of the month for February are Martin St.Louis of the Tampa Bay Lightning as the Offensive player of the Month, Collecting 21 points in 13 games. San Jose Sharks goaltender Evgeni Nabokov earned the defensive player of the month award.Nabokov posted an 8-2-0 record with a 1.75 goals-against average and .934 save percentage in February. The Rookie of the Month was none other than Michael Ryder, he collected five goals and seven assists in 13 games, earning a point on the game-winning goal in five of Montreal's eight wins in February. He ended the month on a six-game points streak.

This is Martin St.Louis Second honor this year winning the Offensive player of the month in January and last month February. He is the second player in NHL history to win this  award in consecutive months since Wayne Gretzky in 1986-87. Oiler Dude has to be ecstatic being such a huge Tampa fan and Gretzky fan.

Latest Trade In the NHL

One of my favorate teams as completed a deal tonight being the Montreal Canadiens trading forward Josef Balej and a second round selection in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for right wing Alex Kovalev. Now Kovalev has amazing talent however we will have to wait and see if he will show his talent in Montreal like he did in Pittsburgh. Now Balej Had 58 points in 55 games with the Hamilton Bulldogs so we know he has a scoring touch, I think if Kovalev can play like he did with the Penguins the Canadiens got a steal however if he played like he did with the Rangers Montreal gave up a good Prospect along with a draft pick.

Manson, Grohl guest on new Garbage Album

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl
and Marilyn Manson have recorded contributions for rock act Garbage's upcoming studio album, according to online posts from vocalist Shirley Manson.

Collaborating with Marilyn Manson, she reports, "It was the most fun I've had in months! It was strange because I haven't actually sung in the studio with anyone since my days in [the pre-Garbage band] Goodbye Mr. Mackenze and so it was pretty weird to hear Manson's voice blast into my earphones Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl

Another Milestone on it's way but More impotantly

Milan Hejduk Is only 8 Goals away from 200 in his career, but more importantly Milan is currently in 5th to retain his Rocket Richard Trophy for most Goals. Ilya Kovalchuk is in first with 35, hejduk has 30 and only 17 games to catch and pass Ilya. I will be keeping close watch on this.

In their loss......

On Saturday night the Colorado Avalanche lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-4 in Overtime at Home. Joe Sakic scored the first goal of the game, putting the puck in the back of the net at 13:04 of the First period, the goal was assisted by Alex Tanguay and Milan Hejduk. That Point Gave Hejduk 400 Career Points, Hejduk went on to get 1 goal and 2 assists in the game including the goal that sent the game to overtime,
