I just implemented a small fix that should prevent any more spam comments from 315live.cn. I also deleted the existing 320 spam comments from that spammer that were in the system. Let me know if you get any more, thanks!

The last time I posted here, I told you that I had implemented some filtering for trackbacks to try and prevent the spam. Clearly, it did not work as well as I had hoped. As a result, I have disabled incoming trackbacks. I see there are hardly any legitimate trackbacks anyway, so I don't think most you will miss this feature. Please do let me know if you continue to receive spam.
I have also spent some time deleting the tens of thousands of spam trackbacks in the system, and I'll continue to try to get rid of them for you. I may have inadvertently deleted one or two legitimate comments though, and for that I apologize.

Over the last couple months I have noticed a major upswing in the amount of trackback spam the site is receiving, so today I finally did something about it (Megan also emailed me about getting spammed, so it was time to act). Trackbacks are still enabled, but they are now filtered, so hopefully this results in less spam.

Apologies if you tried to leave a post or comment on someone's post in the last couple days and it didn't work. It appears to be fixed now though, so let me know if you still have problems.
I also deleted an astounding number of spam trackbacks. We're talking around 120,000!!

Just a quick notice to say that I removed 61 spam comments from the site tonight, and I also implemented the Human Interaction Proof (HIP) control into all comment forms. This is the same control I have had on my blog for about a month now. Basically, along with your name, link and comments, you must enter a code. Works great - I haven't had any more comment spam since I implemented it on my blog.
I tested it on a few of your blogs tonight, and it seems to be working fine. If you encounter any problems, please let me know. Also, because the control is now active, if you want to delete a comment from any of your posts, you MUST enter the code before you click the "Delete Comment" link, or nothing will happen.

Hello everyone! Your faithful admins here to point out that for the first time since as long as we can remember (yes that means a week ago tops), Inge has pulled even with SportsGuru for the most posts at 177. We will of course ignore this other blog for the purposes of this post.
