So Microsoft announced the three different Halo 3 editions that you can get later on this year.
Standard Edition - $69.99 CDN
- This is the plain game disc with nothing more and nothing less than the finale of the Master Chief's Journey
Limited Collector's Edition - $79.99 CDN
- Metal casing (probably not too dissimiliar to the Halo 2 Limited Collector's Edition)
- Halo fiction and art book that expand upon the Halo Universe.
- Bonus Disc containing behind-the-scenes videos (all in HD video) in the making of the game and its development
Legendary Edition - $149.99 CDN
- Bonus Disc #1 containing behind-the-scenes videos (all in HD video) in the making of the game and its development
- Bonus Disc #2 containing in-game cinematics from Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2: Combat Devolution in HD along with developer commentary, and also a featurette documenting a day in the life at Bungie.
- Exclusive content from Red Vs. Blue and This Spartan Life
- Halo 3 storyboard art
- Spartan Helmet case for the DVD cases
So.... it looks like I'll be spending $300 on games and also around the same price on the Xbox 360 premium console later this year? Damn you brain. Damn YOU! I hope they're making a million of those Legendary Editions. I need one of those. I do. Not for the helmet. Not for RvB, but for the bonus discs. I hate them. Actually, the Legendary Edition is a huge rip-off. Even if the second bonus disc were another $10 CDN, you'd be spending $60 on a helmet case that you can't even wear. And you still don't get that art and story book. What is up with that?
So I take it back. I'll be spending $80 for Halo 3 Limited Collector's Edition. I can do without the commentary on the previous games' cinematics. Really.... I can... I can do it. Damn the storyboard art. The Halo fiction and art book sounds more interesting. I hate you Bungie. I hate you Eric Nylund. It's all your fault. I hope someone out there realizes how ridiculous the pricing is on the Legendary Edition for just that extra disc really. I mean... it's just a DVD, like any other DVD out there. Damn the helmet. I'd rather have one that I could wear.
